Axe Valley Heritage Museum

The museum concentrates on the lower Axe Valley and also includes the adjacent villages of Beer, Axmouth, Branscombe, Colyton and Colyford. Seaton museum is renowned for it's excellent collection of old photographs of the area.

These come mainly from the E.S. Gosling collection. Other displays include the Roman site at Honeyditches, the natural history of the area and a display of Victorian costumes.

  • E.S. Gosling Collection

    Collection of local photographs, mainly from the E.S. Gosling collection. The collection covers the people and events from the mid 1800s to the recent past.

  • Collection of Roman artefacts

    Collection of Roman artefacts. Many from the site of the Honeyditches Roman Villa in Seaton and others from the Norman Whinfrey Roman collection.

  • Seaton Jubilee Clock

    Seaton Jubilee Clock erected in 1887 to commemorate the Jubilee of Queen Victoria. This original clock was presented by Sir A. W. Trevelyan and remained in the Jubilee Clock tower until it was replaced in 1994.

  • Paddy Norcombe Collection

    Paddy Norcombe collection of fashionable dresses worn by local ladies from Victorian times to the 1920's.

  • Francis James Chapple woodworking tools collection

    Collection of woodworking tools used by the East Devon cabinetmaker, Francis James Chapple. In the early years of the 20th century he was a well-known expert in inlay work and French polishing for antique furniture.
