Dunkeswell Airfield Heritage Centre
Re-Opening Friday April 7th - updated 06-04-2023 This Heritage Centre was opened on the 25th September 2016 and houses a substantial photographic collection of over 400 photographs that depict day to day life on the base during World War 2, as well as many WW2 artefacts. The display tell the story from the construction, the USAAF and USN forces stationed there and RAF Coastal Command, to the eventual break-up of aircraft and its closure as a military base.
This base played a major role in the defence of the country's supply lines - The Battle of the Atlantic - and the major deterrent it provided in its search and destroy missions. RAF Coastal Command, USAAF and the US Navy

Admission is Free, however we rely on donations for our work and would hope you would make a donation on leaving.

We open from Good Friday to the end of October Thursday - Sunday 11am - 4pm
We will also open outside these times for group talks and tours; please email us for information and charges
Our historians can give talks on various airfields and their role in WW2, as well as other aspects of military life and operations, at your venue, or ours - again please email for details
