Keith Owen was born in Totnes and joined the RAF but spent his later working life in Canada. He frequently stayed in Sidmouth, which he felt was a great example of England as it used to be. When he died in 2007 he left most of his estate for a Trust Fund to be set up and run by the Sid Vale Association. He has been the town's largest benefactor in its entire history and the subsequent grants have transformed the lives of many in the Sid Vale. This is the story of a man who avoided the camera, and kept few personal records, but was passionate about protecting the landscape, the heritage and the community of the Sid Valley.
